Turbocharged:

All turbocharged applications, whether gas or diesel, will gain from the benefits of the Pre/Post lubrication System(s).  Critical oil flow is sent to the bearings of the turbocharger as well as the engine before any components start to rotate.  With extremely tight clearances and incredible rotating speeds of 80,000 RPMs the turbocharger can be easily damages be heat and contamination.

Heat in and around the turbocharger can cook the oil in the oil lines; this is called coke.  The coke build up in the oil lines feeding the turbocharger can result in many types of failure.

1)                  The coke can build up in the line and limit oil flow that can then starve the turbo of both its lubricant and heat exchange sources.  Oil starvation will seize the turbocharger and cause the engine to run poorly, if at all.

2)                  Coke build up can break off in the line and score the turbocharger bearings and open clearances.  This can then create oil leaks, lose of pressure, damaged seals, all which could create under hood smoke or smoke out the exhaust system.  Either way you are consuming oil and diluting the fuel octane level.

3)                  Oil clearance problems can cause the turbine and compressor wheels to contact the housings in which they are set.  When this occurs the turbo failure is critical or terminal.  The turbocharger can break apart and further damage engine sensors or the engine itself.  The turbocharger may be beyond repair.

The post cycle on the Pre/Post lubrication System was designed for these exact reasons.  The post cycle is adjustable so you can set the post lubrication cycle from zero up to six minutes.  If you have read any literature on turbochargers, or even your vehicles owners manual (let’s see a show of hands) you should have noticed the warning(s) to not shut your engine down right after having driven hard and/or coming off boost.  The reason is that the turbocharger continued to spin, up to a few minutes, after the engine is shut down.  This creates the condition for the above failures, lack of oil flow and the presents of concentrated heat.  The Pre/Post Lubrication System is not only the best Engine Start Protection available, but also the best Engine Shut-off Protection as well.

The “Turbo Plus” Pre/Post Lubrication kit is engineered to function on all 12-volt gas and diesel engines.  The By-Pass feature limits oil pressure to 40-45 PSI to reduce amp draw on the vehicles electrical system and protect the electric motor of the system.  Ideal in cold weather conditions and more arid conditions, the Pre/Post Lubrication System will reduce engine wear, reduce engine oil contaminates, and prolong the life of your turbocharger as well as the engine.  ESP Products has a “Standard Plus” system on their shop truck (’93 350 CID Chevy P/U) as well as a Frantz filtration system and the “Turbo Plus” system on their shop R & D car (650hp Twin Turbo Street Legal V-6 Buick).

How does it work?

Simple.  Turn your key to the on position.  A 12v ignition signal starts the Pre- cycle.  When you are finished operating the vehicle, all you do is shut off the engine and remove the key.  The 12v signal is removed from the ECM and the Post- cycle begins.  It's that simple to operate.
